Fire Pit Season at Tiona Holiday Park: Winter Camping, June Long Weekend & July School Holiday Escapes 2026
Cosy Nights by the Lake

There’s something special about gathering around a glowing fire as the sun sets over Wallis Lake. The kids toast marshmallows (and inevitably burn the first one), someone tells a story, someone else tops up the hot chocolate… and suddenly you realise you haven’t checked your phone in hours.
This is camping as it should be.
Wrapped in blankets.
Under the stars.
Surrounded by the people who matter most.
June Long Weekend Magic
The June Long Weekend is one of our favourite times of the year at Tiona. The summer crowds have eased, the mornings are misty over the lake, and the evenings are made for firelight.
Spend your days:
-
Paddleboarding across calm waters
-
Exploring the walking trails of Booti Booti National Park
-
Swimming (if you’re brave!)
-
Fishing at sunrise
Then return to your site or cabin, light the brazier and settle in for a slow winter’s evening.
It’s relaxed. It’s nostalgic. It’s everything a long weekend should be.
July School Holidays = Peak Marshmallow Season

If you ask the kids, this is what winter holidays are all about.
The July school holidays at Tiona mean:
-
Campsites dotted with glowing fires
-
Bikes parked beside picnic tables
-
Board games in cabins
-
Beanies, ugg boots and toasted marshmallows every night
There’s something beautifully grounding about winter camping. No rush. No pressure. Just fresh air, wide open space and the crackle of a fire as the stars come out overhead.
And yes — the marshmallow stash always runs out faster than you think.
A Season to Slow Down

Fire pit season isn’t just about staying warm. It’s about slowing down.
It’s about:
-
Conversations that last longer
-
Kids falling asleep tired from fresh air
-
Couples reconnecting without distraction
-
Friends sharing a bottle of red under the Milky Way
With fire braziers available from April 3 to September 30, 2026 (conditions permitting under Rural Fire Service guidelines), winter at Tiona is something truly special.
So pack the extra blankets.
Bring the marshmallows.
Don’t forget the skewers.
Fire pit season is back — and we can’t wait to welcome you. 🔥✨
