Blueys Beach, Boomerang Beach, and Sandbar Beach at Smiths Lake welcome pups between 5 am-9 am and 5 pm-8 pm. Further afield, Forster boasts One Mile Beach, with a fantastic off-leash area during the same times; or take an on leash walk from Pebbly Beach up to One Mile Beach via Bennetts Head.

Nine Mile Beach (north of the Beach Street access track) invites off-leash play from dawn to dusk while if you are looking for a day trip, checkout Diamond Beach (leash free) Boat Beach at Seal Rocks (on leash) for an adventure the whole family can enjoy!

If your pooch loves a good run, head to Beach Street Reserve in Tuncurry. With two fully fenced areas – one for big dogs and one for smaller or more reactive dogs, plus agility equipment, shade structures, and proximity to Nine Mile Beach, it’s a canine haven from 3 pm – 8 am.

After a day of sandy paws and salty breezes, check out some of the outdoor dining options at cafes and restaurants. One of our highlights is Kembali Café at Blueys Beach – with a great outdoor seating area, your pooch can people watch while you enjoy the Balinese inspired dishes, or an amazing local coffee. In Forster, Taart Café & Beach Bums Café are central to all the shopping precincts, while Plunge Café is the perfect pitstop before or after a run at One Mile Beach.

Explore more of the Pacific Palms area with live music events at Tiona or Great Lakes Paddocks, a visit to the popular Coastal Brewery in Forster, or a breathtaking trip to Ellenborough Falls. And for water-loving pups, try stand-up paddleboarding – a perfect activity for dogs and their owners.

Our furry friends deserve the best, and Pacific Palms has you covered. Mammamia Pet Sitting offer pet-sitting services (in park only), so you can continue your explorations unescorted, while Scotty’s Pet Barn provides a range of items and food, plus an onsite self-dog wash.

For veterinary care, Sweetpea Vets & Rescue Centre, located between Pacific Palms and Forster, ensures all critters get the attention they deserve, with adoptions available for those looking to expand their fur family.

While enjoying the beautiful surroundings, it’s essential to be a responsible pet owner.

Be sure to observe areas where you can and can’t take your dog off lead. Your pupper might be the most friendly boy in the world, but other dogs can be very reactive if met with even a friendly interaction. Pick up after your pooch – most, but not all of the places above, will offer doggy doo bags and receptacles – but its always a good idea to carry your own. And with so many of our areas being surrounded by bush, and in a temperate environment; there is a risk of ticks year round. Ensure your beloved four-legged buddy is up to date with their latest tick treatments, so take the stress off.
